Another New Zealander has been named as captain of the Scottish rugby team. who was born in Invercargill, will lead Scotland in their fourth tour match against Nelson Bays on Tuesday.
With a 1-1-1 record to show for their efforts Ireland, will no doubt examine the good, the bad and the ugly of their three-game tour of the Americas which culminated in a tie against Canada Saturday.
The New Zealand Maori rugby team preserved its six-year unbeaten record at New Plymouth's Rugby Park tonight but only after being fully stretched by a Scotland side which was much more competitive than had been expected by most pundits.
The Rugby World Cup's top points scorer, flyhalf Gonzalo Quesada, was once again the hero as Argentina outmuscled Ireland at Ferro Carril Oeste Stadium in Buenos Aires on Saturday. Even though the visitors outscored the Argentine Pumas by four tries to three, it was Quesada's boot - 19 points, with two conversions and five penalties - that saved the day. |
